Felt survival guide Balberg shop

I discovered hand sewing and wool felt at the same time. I wanted to make simple toys for my baby myself. I wanted to invest my time and love in making little figures that would soften his daily life and embellish our environment.

I fell in love with the wool felt, also known as feltfelted wool or even boiled wool. I love its warmth and softness, its flexibility and rigidity. I could easily make horses or clothes for my child's rag doll without knowing how to sew, apart from a few buttons on a jacket. I found a joyful passion for assembling the colors of wool felt.

I chose a pure, virgin wool felt, certified Oeko-Tex 100, solid and healthy for health and the planet. Wool is naturally anti-parasitic, anti-fungal and anti-allergenic. It's also antistatic, retaining neither bad odors nor dust.

Wool is a natural, living matter made up of scales that open and close according to humidity, like our hair.

Care tips for your felt toys and decorations

For dry dust: shake, aerate, vacuum or brush (with a soft brush) your object gently.
For stains, use a damp sponge and Marseille soap or a suitable ecological stain remover and pat gently. Blot immediately if the wool felt object has come into contact with spilt glass or other liquids.

Not machine-washable.
It is not recommended to wash Balberg shop items. However, if you must wash a Balberg shop felted toy or decorative object, here are my tips:

Prefer hand-washing in cold water with a little Marseille soap or a special wool detergent.
Press lightly to remove water from the wool padding.
Dry flat without spinning, in the shade.

Caring for your felted wool mobile

To maintain your Balberg Shop wool felt mobile and preserve its beauty over time, here are a few tips:

  • To remove dust, use a vacuum cleaner (without brush) set to minimum power on the largest hangers.
  • Small parts of the mobile can be cleaned by gently rubbing them with a dry cloth, or by tapping them with your fingertips over an easy-to-clean surface.
  • For the circle, use a slightly damp cloth and dust carefully.
